Self Defence vs Training for Combat: Which is better?

Self Defence is most effective once you KNOW what you are doing! Combat is NOT Self Defence.

Just taking a few lessons and moves Can Not prepare you for an assault ‘self defence’ situation.

This is the reality, ignored by most trainees, esp women and children who sign-up for introductory programs.

A soldier never goes to war unprepared! How can you?!

It takes a newbie to martial arts training at least 6 months to get better at flexibility, stances, postures and the crucial physical fitness and endurance required to be effective in combat ( I say combat, because a potential victim, soon to be ‘survivor), must be equipped with enough skills and strength to Fight Back!

Yet, many have the wrong notion that a few ‘crash courses’will be enough to take care of any self defense scenario in the street or in close, confined spaces.

Not going to happen.

So, what can be done? Simple. Train for at least an year, and test your skills with a training partner.If you can’t effectively standup against a mock attacker, you probably won’t do too well in a real life situaltion, where the attacker has upper hand – he chooses the time and place and the exact moment to attack!

Enough said? I think so.
